Opus Animae Caritas and Wiggins Scholarships Awarded
Due to the generosity of donors Christopher Morrissey and Grafton Wiggins, the Lyme Academy has awarded multiple 2024 Opus Animae Caritas Scholarships and one Carleton Wiggins Scholarship for Painting. Among the recipients is Core Program student Nathan Pennington, who received the 2024 Opus Animae Caritas Travel/Study Abroad Scholarship. This award allows a 2nd- or 3rd-year Core Program student at the Academy to immerse themselves in artistic and cultural activities abroad that will advance their artists and professional development, expand their learning, and provide opportunities to connect with local artists, international students, and peers.
Core Drawing & Painting student Sebastian Villada has received the annual Carleton Wiggins Scholarship of $10,000, named for a Lyme Art Colony artist and meant to stimulate and encourage American representational painters.
Four Opus Animae Caritas Youth Scholarships were also awarded for the Academy’s Young Masters Program. Congratulations to: Emma Frisbie (10th grade, East Lyme High School, East Lyme, CT); Dahlia D’Amato (9th grade, Waterford High School, Waterford, CT); Natalie Guilmette (11th grade, Westerly High School, Westerly, RI); and Landon Avery (10th grade, Robert E. Fitch, Sr. High School, Groton, CT).
