Painting the Still Life
with Todd Casey
Instructor: Todd Casey
Dates: August 14–August 17, 202
Times: 9 am–4:30 pm (break 12–1:30 pm)
Workshop Location: Lyme Academy of Fine Arts
Levels: This workshop is open to all levels, ages 18+, or with permission from the instructor
Learn the fundamentals of still life painting in the inspiring north-lit studios of Lyme Academy. Guided instruction will address composition, drawing, light, color theory, form, depth, edges, and how to introduce narrative elements into a painting based on the close observation of 2-4 objects. Instructor-led demonstrations will include the “direct method” approach, starting with a charcoal underdrawing and building up a painting in stages. Morning demonstrations and lectures will be followed by individual instruction, ensuring that each student’s still life painting is developed and completed.
Note that this workshop will also include a discussion of studio materials, such as paints, brushes, boards, and canvas.
Please note that registration for this workshop is non-refundable and does not include supplies or materials; please see the Terms and Conditions for details before making the final purchase.
