PRINTMAKING STUDIO
Our Printmaking Open Studio is an opportunity for artists to share our space and equipment on a reservation basis.
Our 1150 square foot, north-lit printmaking studio is equipped with four presses, including a Charles Brand etching press that can accommodate paper sized up to 30 x 50 inches. Relief printing (woodcut, linocut), drypoint, collagraph, monotype/monoprint, and intaglio using previously etched zinc or copper plates can all be accommodated. Copperplate etching and aquatint are available and we use ferric chloride in our tanks.
Six workstations are available per session, each with its own separate inking palette and cleaning materials, to help ensure a safe environment. Enrollees must be at least 18 years old, have experience working in a print studio, be knowledgeable in the operation of presses and cleanup protocol, and work independently. An experienced printmaking monitor will be present in the studio to assist with any questions.
Sessions are “pay-as-you-go” at the rate of $20 per session.
You may pay online with a credit card or cash at de Gerenday’s. Punchcards are available for purchase in de Gerenday’s, our school art store.
Please bring your own plates, paper, inks (water and oil-based are both acceptable), and tools. Cleaning materials, paper soaking trays, newsprint, and a limited number of brayers and solvents are available. A registration form and signed release waiver are required to attend, which you may complete and submit online.
