Definition of Minority: For the purposes of scholarship eligibility, “minority” may include—but is not limited to—individuals who identify as Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native American or Alaska Native, Asian American or Pacific Islander, and multiracial individuals. It may also include individuals who are underrepresented in higher education or the arts due to race, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic background, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. In some cases, specific donor-directed funds may prioritize applicants from particular backgrounds, including underrepresented religious communities, to align with the stated intent of the fund.
