The Lyme Academy of Fine Arts continues an unbroken tradition of fostering education, inspiration, and camaraderie among artists in the historic town of Old Lyme, Connecticut. This Professional Development Day offers teachers a unique opportunity to experience an academy-style studio environment. The workshop will be led by Rick Lacey, a seasoned artist and educator whose bio is below.
Workshop Overview
This 3.5-hour session provides insight into the objectives, methods, and techniques used in the Academy’s programs. Participants will work through exercises to introduce a step-by-step approach to figure drawing from live model observation, including gesture drawings and a long pose.

Artist Bio
Rick Lacey
Director of Youth Programs and Principal Continuing Education Instructor
Rick Lacey, originally from Evergreen, Colorado, has spent much of his life in Lyme, Connecticut. A 2011 graduate of the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts with a BFA in painting, Rick is a recipient of the American Visions Award and the John Stobart Fellowship Award. His work has been featured in national publications, including American Artist and Art of the West. Rick currently teaches drawing and painting at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, where his classes are highly regarded.
