Required Materials for Afternoon and Sunset Plein Air Painting
- Filed Easel (e.g. French easel)
- One 9” x 12” or 11” x 14″ surface for each session. This may include canvas panel, stretched canvas, or prepared wood panel. If a student wishes to use the same panel. used by the instructor, please contact zufar@russera.com
- Flat brushes. At least one of each size Bristle or Synthetic equivalent, # 2, #4-6, #8-12. Filbert can be used too, but flats preferred.
- Round brushes, softer synthetic or sable. One smaller 1/16” and one 1/8” in diameter.
- Fan brush (about 1” wide is recommended).
- Paper towel or paint rag, bag for used rag.
- Paint thinner (e.g. Gamsol or Turpentine)
- Paint medium (e.g. Galkyd, Alkyd Gel, Liquid Impasto)
- Palette cup.
- Palette or Palette paper
- Pencil 2B-6B
- Sketchbook
- Maul Stick or Common wood dowel (optional)
- Foldable portable chair (recommended)
Oil Colors:
- Titanium White
- French Ultramarine
- Manganese Blue Imitation or Cerulean Blue
- Olive Green
- Cadmium Yellow Lemon
- Cadmium Yellow Deep (recommended)
- Cadmium Orange
- Yellow Ochre
- Raw Siena
- Transparent Oxide Brown or Red
- Alizarin Crimson (Alizarin Permanent is preferred)
