Times: 1:30-5 pm
Workshop Location: Stobart Studio, Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, Old Lyme, CT

This foundational workshop will immerse students in the academic painting tradition. Students will learn to paint utilizing a sequential, systematic progression designed to strengthen visual acuity and develop a strategic approach to the subject matter. Participants will work with a live model with an emphasis on accurate observation.

Students will explore the fundamental properties of light, form, structure, proportion, and gesture, while learning to employ a direct-painting method. Focused discussions about paint handling and color mixing will also be part of the program.
