Open Figure Drawing

Our Open Drawing sessions provide a valuable opportunity for artists of all skill levels to work from a live model in a structured studio environment. A monitor is present to set the poses, keep time, and ensure a prompt start. Easels, stools, and drawing horses are available for use. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own art supplies.

Figure model sessions feature nude male and female models; models will be clothed for portrait sessions.

Sessions last three hours, and are $15 per session.

Spaces may be reserved and paid for online, or drop-ins may pay in cash at the door.

Are you a high school student? Lyme Academy of Fine Arts Open Drawing sessions are free for you! Come join us in the studio! Questions? 860-434-5232.

Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, Chandler Studio
Monitor: Thomas LaPine

Are you interested in capturing a person’s likeness? If so, then please join us for our new Saturday Portrait Club – bound to become a Lyme Academy tradition! Artists will have the opportunity to develop finished drawings and paintings over the course of 5 to 6 sessions with the same live model. This focused period will allow artists to develop their technical abilities, as well as to better understand the poetry of physiognomy and the human condition. We will rotate male and female models over the term. Open to all levels.

The health and safety of our guests are of the utmost importance. We are regularly monitoring the guidelines of the CDC and will adjust our policies accordingly.

Please note: No Open Drawing sessions will be held on Saturday, July 30 for Midsummer Festival in Old Lyme. Open Drawing will be on summer break starting August 13. We will resume Open Drawing sessions for the Fall Term on October 3, 2022. If you have any questions call 860-434-5232.
