COURSE: PAINTING II
MATERIALS NEEDED: Pigments always use 'artist grade':
  • Titanium White or Permalba White.
  • Ivory Black or Raw Umber.
  • Cadmium Yellow light.
  • Maimeri Puro brand Primary Yellow or Indian Yellow - transparent.
  • Cadmium Red light.
  • Maimeri Puro brand Primary Red or Quinacridone Red - transparent.
  • Ultramarine Blue - transparent.
  • Maimeri Puro Primary Blue or Pthalo Blue - transparent.
  • Other colors may be added during the semester.
Maimeri primary colors can be purchased as a set of the three primaries.  

Solvents: 

·         Odorless Mineral Spirits or Gamsol (less toxic solvents.)

Mediums:  

·         Galkyd, home-made (see me).

Supports:  

  • Three smallish gessoed or oil primed panels or canvases, approx. 9 x 12 inches. 
  • Two smallish gessoed or oil primed panels or canvases, approx.12 x 16 inches.
  • Three to four fully gessoed or oil primed panels or canvases, at least 24 x 30 inches.
  • One fully gessoed or oil primed panel or canvas, approx. 16 x 20 inches.
  • *** You will need additional supports for homework assignments.

Assorted brushes: 

  • A variety of bristle (for canvas) and synthetic (for panels) flats, brights and rounds and a 1 ½ - 2 inch flat sable or synthetic for glazing

Other materials:

  • Double palette cups.
  • Palette knives
  • Wooden or glass palettes.
  • Soft rags and paper towels.
  • Pencils, charcoal & inexpensive tablet or sketchbook for thumbnails.
