How to Apply


ADMISSIONS
The Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts is on a rolling admissions basis. Applications to our exceptional Fine Arts program are accepted and reviewed throughout the year, with acceptance notifications sent at an appropriate time for enrollment into our programs. Sign up for a VISIT
A visit to the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts is one of the most important aspects of the admissions process. It provides us the chance to fine arts program - drawing class assess your potential to study at our college, it gives you, the student, the opportunity to personally observe our art college first-hand in a way not possible through other presentations. You are invited to sit in on classes and have direct conversations with the students and faculty. 

Applicants living beyond 300 miles are encouraged to have a personal interview, but may choose to forward a slide, CD or DVD portfolio to the Admissions Office. The Lyme Academy College, also, participates in the National Portfolio Day Association scheduled portfolio reviews across the country. HOW TO APPLY TO THE LYME ACADEMY COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS

  1.  The easiest way to APPLY is online: complete an application online.
  2. You may fill out a paper application found in our view book, or print your own application using Adobe, Acrobat Reader (Click here to download Acrobat if needed).

The Admissions Office reserves the right to request additional information when necessary. To complete our application process, the following must be received and sent to the attention of the Admissions Dept:

  1. Application Fee: A non-refundable Application fee of $55 must accompany the Application Form. (Processing fees apply if funds come from outside the US)
  2. Transcripts:  Transcripts are required.  You must have received a high school diploma or the equivalent prior to entering our College of Fine Arts.  Official copies of all high school and college transcripts must be forwarded to the Admissions Office.  Standardized test results from SAT or ACT should be included on your transcripts or you may have test results sent directly to the Admissions Office by using the Academy codes when taking the test: SAT use code #1791;  ACT use code #0566.  SAT and ACT scores include Reading, Writing and Mathematics. You may omit the high school transcript if you have completed two years of college.
  3. Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required.  Ask that these letters be sent directly to the College Admissions Office.  Letters should be from individuals who can comment on your potential for success and commitment as an art student.
  4. Admissions Portfolio Review / Interview:  You must present a portfolio for review and participate in an interview with our admissions staff to be considered for admissions to the Lyme Academy.  Portfolio reviews and interviews are on campus, at National Portfolio Day events, and during selected high school visits across the country.  If you live within 300 miles of Old Lyme, please schedule a visit to the Academy and present your portfolio to our admissions staff.  We encourage all applicants to visit our college, but if distance makes this difficult, you may choose to send a slide or electronic portfolio and participate in a telephone interview.  Please do not mail original work to the College.  We cannot be responsible for its safety or return.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE AND TUITION DEPOSIT
When we notify you of your acceptance to the College, we expect you to submit a non-refundable tuition deposit of $400, a signed Enrollment Agreement, Residency Statement, and a Proof of Immunization no later than May1st, or two weeks after the date of acceptance, whichever comes later.  Your deposit applies towards the fist semester's tuition.

TRANSFER STUDENTS
Transfer Students will be considered for admission to the first year Foundation program.  Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be on file in the admissions office.  Liberal Arts course credit with a grade of C or better from an accredited institution will be considered for transfer.  Students with studio credits paralleling the College's first year curriculum may request a portfolio review by our Foundation Faculty for advanced standing and transfer credit consideration.

DEFERRED ADMISSIONS
Students who have paid the non-refundable $400 deposit may defer their attendance for up to one year by notifying the College in writing.  The $400 deposit is forfeited if you do not attend the Academy within one year.

SPRING SEMESTER ADMISSION
We accept applications for entrance in the spring semester.  Transfer students, International students, and non-traditional students are encouraged to apply for Spring semester admission.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts accepts international students.  Please request additional information.
