COMMUNITY MESSENGER

Position Overview

COMMUNITY MESSENGER to spread the word about activities, exhibits, courses, etc.

Job Functions/Tasks

DISTRIBUTE EXHIBITION POSTCARDS/COURSE BOOKLETS/ETC. ON A REGULAR BASIS TO THE PUBLIC.

ART STORE

Position Overview

Provide overall assistance with the inventory and organizational management of the College art store.

Job Functions/Tasks

Weekly/Monthly: Straightening/organizing the store and supply areas, as well as the displaying of merchandise, general dusting.
As Needed:   Pricing, shelving and storing incoming merchandise on an as-needed basis.  Research work to find products on the Internet or through catalogs for best prices.
Semi-Annually (mid -December and mid - May):  Inventory assistance at the end of each semester, to include organizing the store before and after the inventory count, counting merchandise and entering onto inventory sheets and spot checking/recounting small areas of the store and storage.
July & August: Price, shelve and store large quantities of merchandise

Note: all materials and tools required for accomplishing the tasks noted above will be provided by the College. 

Helpful Skills/Abilities

Good organization skills.  Retail experience is helpful.

Reports to:    Art Store Manager

CATALOGUER/ARCHIVIST

Position Overview
COLLECT AND CATALOGUE PRESS CLIPPINGS FROM 2006 TO PRESENT. UPON COMPLETION OF PROJECT, CONTINUE ON A MONTHLY BASIS TO KEEP ARCHIVES UP TO DATE.

Helpful Skills/Abilities
DETAIL ORIENTED, ORGANIZED, AWARE OF IMPORTANCE OF GOOD PRESENTATION OF WORK
Time Required– 2-3 hours monthly

Reports to:  DIRECTOR OF MARKETING, COMMUNICATIONS, PR

WEEKEND GALLERY AMBASSADOR

Position Overview
Acting as an ambassador for the College, this position greets and provides information to patrons regarding College programs.

Job Functions/Tasks
Greet all who enter the building and answer any questions about the current exhibition, or various programs offered by the College, including, but not limited to Admission to the BFA program, Continuing Studies or Pre-college courses. Maintain the Guest (sign-in) book. Record and process any sales and forward to the Assistant Dean of the College. An additional list of duties to be provided at the time of orientation.

The Galleries are open each Saturday (unless there is no exhibition) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Helpful Skills/Abilities
A friendly and outgoing demeanor is helpful, as well as experience using credit card machines.

DATA GATHERER

Position Overview
Job Functions/Tasks
UPDATE COLLEGE CONTACTS WITH EMAIL ADDRESSES, ETC.

Helpful Skills/Abilities

DETAIL ORIENTED,  ORGANIZED, COMPUTER SKILLS – EXCEL, CREATIVE THINKING,  CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS

Time Required – 4 hours a week to start

  DIRECTOR OF MARKETING, COMMUNICATIONS, PR

ACADEMIC CENTER RECEPTION

Position Overview
Responsible for overall management of the Academic Center reception desk - the “front door” of the College.

Job Functions/Tasks
Tasks include greeting the public, providing information regarding the various departments within the College and answering and routing telephone calls. This position may handle the retrieval and sorting of mail on a daily basis, as well as a variety of other general administrative duties as assigned.

Helpful Skills/Abilities
Good interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to perform detailed functions.

Reports to: Assistant Director, Alumni and Volunteer Services

Special Projects – Plaque Preparation & Filing

Position Overview
Assist in preparing information for the creation of a plaque commemorating the prior capital campaign and general filing

Job Functions/Tasks
Review documents in order to identify and verify names along with the gift amount in preparation for plaque development. Work with VP for External Affairs to establish and complete ongoing filing.

Helpful Skills/Abilities
Ability to proof read with strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently

Reports to: VP for External Affairs

 
LIBRARY

Position Overview
Volunteers are needed to assist with multiple aspects of library work, including the College’s growing archives.

Job Functions/Tasks
The work is primarily clerical in nature and may involve computer data entry, image creation and editing , database searching, sorting of materials, repair and shelf-preparation of library or archive materials.

Helpful Skills/Abilities
Volunteers should be computer literate. A familiarity with Microsoft Office products, FileMaker Pro, or related databases, Photoshop and the Internet are helpful.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES

Position Overview
Responsible for providing general administrative support to a variety of Departments, including, but not limited to External Affairs, Admissions and Finance.

Job Functions/Tasks
Tasks include the copying and assembly of packet materials; the preparation of a variety of mailings, including stuffing and sealing envelopes, affixing labels and postage to the envelopes. The position may also involve answering telephones.
More specifically, the Bursar’s Office is looking for volunteers one day per month, sometime during the first week to perform filing tasks associated with the prior month’s activities.

In addition, the Marketing and Development Offices seek volunteers for special projects, updating media lists, researching past donor information for recognition plaques, organizing and archiving historical photos and artifacts.

Helpful Skills/Abilities
Good organizational skills and ability to perform detailed functions.

Reports to: The Department Manager

 
GREEN THUMB GARDENERS

Position Overview - Assistance to be provided in connection with the overall, outside appearance of the College. The position remains active from March through October each year and will be scheduled in accordance with the College work week, unless otherwise specified. Tools required for this position will be provided by the College.

Job Functions/Tasks: Weeding, planting, pruning, removal of debris and overall general landscaping. May also participate in landscape design.

Helpful Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of landscaping or garden design is particularly helpful.

Reports to: Director of Facilities or his designee

 
SPECIAL EVENTS

Position Overview
Greet and orient a variety of groups (large and small) to the College for special events.

Job Functions/Tasks

Openings: There are approximately 6 exhibition openings each year, all of which take place on Friday evenings from 5 – 7pm. Tasks include greeting people upon entry, distributing exhibition price lists, answering general questions and encouraging attendees to sign a guest book.

Tours and Groups: Provide tours and information regarding the College (scheduled in advance).

Lectures:
Greet lecture attendees, check them off on the list and collect limited amounts of money for those who have not pre-paid

Arts Ball: Act as a committee member for one or more of the following committees: Art Auction, Non-Art Auction, Corporate Sponsorship, Design/Décor, Mailings, Table Décor and Wine and Dine

Graduation & Midsummer Festival: Overall assistance with events

Helpful Skills/Abilities: Outgoing nature and comfort working with the public

Reports to: Department Manager responsible for the event
