VETERANS INFORMATION

The Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts is a Veterans eligible institution. If you are a veteran, you should first determine if you qualify for Educational Benefits, and then what your benefits will cover.
  • To apply for Veterans Educational benefits, you must complete the application form (VA Form 22-1990) prior to having your enrollment certified. The form is available from the Regional Office in Hartford . You may also get a copy on-line at WWW.GIBILL.VA.GOV, or you may call a benefits counselor at 1-888-442-4551 (at prompt hit 1 to indicate touch-tone and then hit 0 to reach a VA counselor) . Most VA Forms for students concerning educational assistance can be downloaded from the education form section of our web-site.

  • Initial Application for Educational Assistance or Request for a Change of Program or Place of Training are downloaded from our web-site.
  • For changes of direct-deposit arrangements call 877-838-2778.
  • For 1606, 1607 and Chapter 30 monthly verification of residential training completed during prior months of the awarded period of training, call our interactive voice-response system by touch-tone telephone at 877-823-2378 or by using the W.A.V.E. system at our web-site.
  • VA Work Study questions should be addressed to our Work-Study Unit at 716-857-3145, 3146 or 3147 or fax number 716-857-3192.
  • To make an inquiry go to WWW.GIBILL.VA.GOV and select the link Ask a Question and Find Answers. This will direct you to a secure website that will ultimately allow you and a member of our customer service team exchange information. Select the My Questions and Answers tab and follow the instructions to create an account. After you create an account, you should select the Ask a Question tab. In the subject area, type: Name and VA file number - Then complete the information to submit your question. You may also call a customer service representative at    1-888-442-4551.
  • Send Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation) forms to the Hartford address.
  • Send all other VA Educational forms to the Buffalo address.
Telephone Verification of Enrollment - Just call 1-877-823-2378 and follow the prompts. Use of this system eliminates the need for the student to sign and return the VA Form 22-8979 every month. 
Note:
If you did not receive a VA Form 22-8979 to complete, you will not be able to use the system because no monthly verification is required at this time.
