LYME Scholarships for new or transfer students
are based on both merit and need.
-
Merit is determined through a competitive evaluation of the
applicant's admissions materials including Portfolio, GPA,
Essay, Interview, and SAT scores.
-
Need is based on the FAFSA,
and PROFILE information. We also request that you send signed copies of your tax information.
THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED:
- Application to the College: A student must
have been accepted for admission before they will be considered
for Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts Financial Aid. You may
APPLY
online or
contact the Admissions office - 860-434-5232
x119 or
Dsigmon@lymeacademy.edu .
- Portfolio: Applicants admission portfolios
will be evaluated for scholarship. Slides are still preferred
but other media will also be accepted. Please make sure we
have at least 12 to 15 examples of your best work and that
it is properly labeled. (Slides and media will not be returned).
- *File the FAFSA, which is based upon your
previous year’s taxes. (You may estimate using previous
year’s information to make deadlines. This will have
to be corrected before final packaging). The easiest way to
fill it out is online: www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Our code # is 030794. Students, as well as
a parent, should apply for a PIN number. This makes it easy
to make changes and sign the FAFSA electronically.
The PIN site is www.pin.ed.gov.
You may apply throughout
the academic year, although sooner is always better!
- PROFILE (CSS form): The sooner you apply
the better! The PROFILE is based upon previous year’s taxes.
(You may estimate using previous year’s information to
make deadlines). There is a fee, which is listed in the form.
Use the College's code # 1236 to authorize CSS
to send your
information to us. Apply
online at
https://profileonline.collegeboard.com/index.jsp.
- *Income Tax Returns: We require copies of
tax returns. For Dependent
students, we need a signed copy of your parent's,
and your, 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ federal income tax returns for
the previous year. If you are an independent student we need
a signed copy of your tax returns. If a return
was not filed, a written explanation of the reason for not
filing must be provided to the College. Send signed tax return
copies directly to the College –
Financial Aid Office, 84 Lyme Street, Old
Lyme CT 06371.
*Necessary for Federal & State Grants, Student Loans,
or Work-study based on need.
Early Aid estimates will generally
be sent out within three weeks of acceptance to the college, and
receipt of all need-based information - FAFSA, PROFILE, and copy
of taxes.
PLEASE HELP US HELP YOU. Sending accurate
information allows us to offer you
a package identifying your eligibility for more types and greater amounts
of available aid.
